You may know that it was Chinese New Year very recently and our Reception children really threw themselves into learning about this other culture. We wrote Chinese symbols, we made lanterns, we made paper plate rabbits because this year is year of the rabbit and we even ate some Chinese food!

We have really enjoyed learning about another culture from around the world.
Reception thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the planetarium at the Centre for Life last week. We got to sit back and see the stars as though we were in space! This 'launched' our topic about space and the children behaved fabulously.
A big thank you to the planetarium and to our parent helpers.

A big 'well done' to our new Reception children who started school last week. They have been working hard at all their busy jobs and have done a great job of eating their first school dinners! Keep practising with those knives and forks everyone!

On Wednesday, 16th June our new Reception Parents will be invited in to school to find out further information about life in Reception. The times of these meetings are 9.15 and 6pm respectively.
On Thursday, 10th June at 9.15 and 6pm, our new Nursery parents are invited to an Induction meeting in our school hall, where they will gather further info about life at Dunston Hill.
On Wednesday, 9th June our Reception children will make that popular visit to Frankie & Benny's. Let's hope they bring some tasty food back to school with them!!!
The children really enjoyed this topic last term and were very interested in watching the progress of plants and animals growing. The highlight of the topic was watching our butterflies emerging from their cocoons and setting them free! We have seen them flying about the gardens and we are always sure to say a big HELLO!

Hello Nursery! We have had great fun out in the sunshine today!
Our Reception children will have their Christmas party on the afternoon of Thursday, 17th December.
Our Nursery children will have their Christmas Party on the morning or afternoon of Thursday, 17th December.
Our Nursery and Reception children will perform their Nativity on Wednesday, 9th December at 9.30am and 2pm in the school hall.
We had a great time playing in the snow.
Our Topic during the spring term is 'Looking After Living Things'.
The Nursery children have had great fun learning French words and tasting French foods.
